The Board of Directors has been exploring an association name change and on their behalf, I want to thank everyone who took the time to provide input throughout this process and the 750 members that participated in our poll. By the way, more people cast their vote in this poll than have ever voted in an electronic election in the last four years. The board wants this to continue being a transparent process.
Of the 750 members who participated, 518 said the board should use the by-laws amendment process to change our professional association’s name.
When it comes to what that new name shall be, 407 members prefer National Association of Extension 4-H Professionals while 339 prefer National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals. Four individuals casting their vote for a name change did not indicate their preference regarding the new name. Graphics and poll results have been made public at https://nae4ha.com/page/BrandRefresh.
Please know the board will continue to address this issue using these results to guide our decision making process and will be working closely with Policy and Resolutions Committee members to make sure any changes are done so in accordance with our own governing policies.
Best wishes as everyone gears up for a busy summer season! While this job can be self-consuming, be sure to take time for yourself, family, and loved ones.
I look forward to seeing everyone at our annual conference in November. The West Virginia planning team has been working to make this a top notch professional development experience.
Tony Carrell, President
